Presentation.

Antagon is a 2 players turn-based reflexion/strategy game.

Two camps (Red and Blue) confront each other on a 6*6 square board,
Each camp is composed of 3 pawns.

The pawns, while moving along, paint the squares they cover with the color of their camp.

Once there is no neutral square left, the victorious camp is the one which holds the greatest number of squares of its color.

Hazard partially takes place in the game, insofar as pawns move along 5 squares long paths which have a random shape (the squares are put together in a Tetris way).

At each turn and for each player, a new path is randomly generated by the computer.

You have about 20 seconds to make a move.

Held squares can be recaptured at any moment by the adversary.

The edges of the board are "open": when a pawn, during its move, hits a side of the board, it gets teleported on the opposite side.

In this edition of the game (Free Edition for Windows), three game modes are available:

- Network game (which permits to play against other players through the web)
- Game against computer (3 difficulty levels)
- Demo mode (the computer plays against himself)

The game requires installing an executable module, that can be downloaded from the website.

The Network Game mode requires a free subscription.

Once the game module is launched, you have to identify yourself to the server, in order to see who is online, invite players, or get invited.

Comprehensive Game Rules (Free Edition for Windows).

At each game start, the computer randomly determines who holds which camp (Red or Blue), and who starts.

You can move one pawn per turn, according to the following rule:

Moves are based on a 5 squares long randomly shaped path.

At each turn, this path is assigned to a random pawn of the current camp (the selected pawn is highlighted), and the shape of this path is randomly generated by the computer.

The game can be played with the keyboard,
Here are the actions that can be done:

- Make the path rotate (left/right arrow-keys). The path then rotates 90 degrees around the selected pawn.

- Select another pawn (up/down arrow-keys).

- Move the selected pawn (space bar).

When you trigger a move (by hitting the space bar), the selected pawn moves along the path, and it paints each square it covers with the color of its camp.

Each turn is time-limited (remaining time is shown via a gauge, on the left of the window), and when deadline is reached, the selected pawn immediately moves along the path.

If, while it's moving, a pawn hits an side of the board, it gets on with its move on the opposite side.

If it comes to hit another pawn, its move is ended.

Once all of the squares are filled (no neutral square left), game is stopped and the victorious camp is the one which holds the greatest number of squares.

In case where both camps hold the same number of squares, there is tie.

The number of squares held by each camp is shown on the upper-right of the window.

On the bottom of the window, a summary can be found, that precises which camp (Red or Blue) is held by the player, and which camp is playing.

Two display modes are available: 2D and Isometric 3D.

Return key allows to switch to the other display mode at any time.

Game module installation.

The game requires the installation of a module, available for download on the website.

Please note that the module can run on Windows only.

A linux version should be available soon.

Network game.

Before to be able to play in network via the internet,
You have to subscribe on the website,
in order to activate a account on the game server.

Once the module is launched (for instance thanks to the 'Antagon Game Module' icon),
so that you can confront other players through the web,
you first have to choose the "Network Game" option.

Then, you must enter your login and password.

You can save these datas on your hard disk, by checking the 'Memorize' checkbutton.

Once you have clicked on the 'OK' button,
and once the server has identified you,
you can see the players who are currently connected on the server,
as well as the current status of each connected player.

Here are the different status:

- Available
- Unavailable
- Play against [adversary login]

By clicking on the 'Refresh' button,
you can update the connected players list, as well as their status.

When you wish to invite a player, you just have to click on the corresponding login,
and to click on the 'Invite' button that appears then on right of window.
if the player accepts your invitation, the game will immediately start.
(Check out game rules above).

Inversely, when a player invites you, you can accept or decline his (her) invitation.

The 'Authorize Invitations' checkbutton, when it is not checked,
permits to prevent the other players from inviting you (then you are in 'Unavailable' status).

Once a game is finished, you come back to the connected players page.

When a new version of the module is available on the server,
You are asked to download and install it.
In this purpose, a link to the corresponding webpage is then displayed.

NB: The game module uses port 5779.

If you are behind a firewall, you will have to authorize this port.

In the same way, if you are behind a router,
You will have to redirect the port 5779 to your computer, in connected mode (TCP).
